RadioShack’s former distribution center in Hagerstown is on the market as part of the electronics company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy sale.
A&G Realty Partners is marketing the 336,000-square-foot warehouse on 100 Tandy Drive off Interstate 81 — Washington County’s distribution center hub. The recent closure of the Hagerstown warehouse left 87 people out of work. The one-story building sits on 20.5 acres and includes 28 dock-high doors and two drive-in doors. The asking price was not disclosed.
A&G, a New York real estate, advisory and investment group, was retained by RadioShack (OTCMKTS:RSH) in February to manage the sale of leases and warehouses that are part of RadioShack’s bankruptcy. A bankruptcy judge gave the go-ahead for RadioShack’s financing planthat will lead to the closing of nearly half of its stores and the sale of the other locations to a Sprint affiliate. Many of the leases are expected to be snapped upbecause RadioShack was known for picking good retail spots for its stores.
A&G Realty is accepting bids on the leases, which range from 1,200 to 5,300 square feet located in many of the major retail markets in the country including prestigious New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami. In Greater Baltimore, the leases include locations at the Can Company in Baltimore’s Canton neighborhood, Mondawmin Mall and the Parkside Shopping Center. “The availability of these leases is expected to attract interest from many national and local retailers,” Andy Graiser, A&G co-president, said when the company announced its new role on Feb. 9.
